Andre Rieu

I used to think that PBS put its best programming on during their fund drives; to remind people how different and great PBS is and also as an expression of thanks for people's support.

But after suffering through several seasons of fund drives (seeing both NE and IA PBS fund drives) and therefore seeing Andre Rieu (violinist) in concert over and over, my new theory is that they hold their regular great programming hostage and won't put it back on the air until people fork over a little more dough. As we keep trying to see America's Test Kitchen, Everyday Food, History Detectives, Antiques Roadshow, etc., but instead see flipping Andre Rieu, we can't take it anymore and call in our credit card number.

But then this weekend, during Sunday school when everyone is giving thanks for something that happened this last week, a lady gives thanks for being able to see Andre Rieu in concert the night before! She won the tickets in a radio contest and loved the performance.

Ouch. How can I be so different that I cringe at what she loves?

Awwwww Brent ~ You need to be able to see an André Rieu Concert without all those darn Pledge Breaks!! ~ Then you too would love him and his music as so many of us do!!!

Wow Brent, it is great to read your meanderings. And witty too. I have missed that and look forward to checking in often.

Hi Brent.
Come to a life concert and it will change your idea of Andre. The TV concert with all those darn pledge breaks are so different from a life concert. This year in Toronto the show will include ballet, ice skaters, horse drawn carriages and a replica of the Palace schonbrunn. The decor alone takes 125 trucks to transport. That is entertainment.

Brent,
You cringe at what she loves (and all Andre fans love) because you've never seen him and his incredible orchestra live. You really should attend one of his concerts and see for yourself. PBS doesn't air the complete concert so you're missing the time of your life and music presented as only Andre can if you base your opinion only on what you see on PBS.

Andre Rieu's shows are so fantastic. But his tickets are so expensive because he puts on a SHOW.I asked my father to buy me tickets, but they said it is too much money. Thankfully a buddy of mine found a website where he found really cheap Andre Rieu tix .
Fortunately my parents accepted to book me tickets due to low prices that this site offers.
Here is the site:

when I was in High School I worked at the (now defunct) 'Store of Knowledge', i.e. the store of PBS stuff and educational toys. There was a LOT of mocking something someone else loves up in that piece. Beginning with "Yanny Live at the Acropolis", right through "Andrew Lloyd Webber Premiere Collection on DVD", down to the 14 ct Gold Slinky.

oh hi, I'm reading 2 year old blog posts.
